Context of development:

This game was developed as part of the "Développement de jeux vidéo 2D" cours (SLI, Lettres, UNIL). supervised by Isaac Pante and Johan Cuda. S2024.

Game Description:

It's a defensive shooter aiming to raise awareness of the danger of non-native insects. Designed to appeal especially to young people, the game is open to everyone.

The character "Eco", the ecosystem represented as a planet, explains which insects not native to Switzerland are causing environmental damage. The player must skilfully defend the planet against these insects, while taking care not to touch similar native insects. Eco will provide a small identikit visible on the insect sprites, so you can tell them apart.

That's why I've exploited the potential of Dall-e's image creation AI, reshaping the result to suit the game. The insects are taken from cantonal and Swiss regulations concerning the problems posed by non-native insects on the territory.

As far as the fun aspect is concerned, the game is divided into 3 levels of increasing difficulty, which I hope will exercise ocular restraint and entertain all types of players, from the least experienced to the most experienced (level 3 being deliberately more demanding). Follow Eco's description to identify them...and I hope you enjoy the game!
